Amanda Nye has over 30 years experience practicing domestic and international trademark law, and in helping her clients acquire, protect and maintain their trademarks and their brands worldwide.
She has counseled and managed the brands and trademark portfolios of multi-national companies, venture capital companies, start-up companies and individuals in a wide range of fields including cosmetics and beauty products, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, toys, footwear and clothing, food and beverages, and online educational services.
She has deep experience in trademark and brand counseling, opinion and advice work. This experience includes helping her clients in the clearance, registration and maintenance of trademarks in the US and worldwide.
Ms. Nye has comprehensive experience in how best to integrate global trademark protection and branding strategies with business goals to help the client create and maintain strong brands, well-recognized and protectable in the jurisdictions of interest and to strengthen the client’s business overall.
Ms. Nye also has extensive experience advising on, managing and supervising global trademark search and filing programs, licensing and distribution programs, co-existence and settlement agreements.
Regarding global trademark protection, Ms. Nye has built a long-standing and wide-ranging network of foreign associate law firms who work with her to implement globally her clients’ strategic goals and to protect each client’s intellectual property rights globally. This ensures a globally consistent approach to each client’s trademark portfolio – whether the portfolio is one wide-ranging trademark or one hundred trademarks.
Ms. Nye is well-versed in the take-down procedures of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and advises on related issues.
Additionally, she also provides all of these services as part of trademark portfolio advice, management and due diligence in business transaction settings such as acquisitions and divestitures.
She helps her clients avoid litigation by advising on and negotiating regarding cease and desist letters. This advice and guidance includes both those received by the client, and those where the client interests are best served by preparing and sending cease and desist letters to police and protect the client’s trademark rights.
Ms. Nye began her career as an Examining Attorney in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where she practiced for three years. Following the USPTO, Ms. Nye entered private practice.
Ms. Nye spent over twenty years in private practice before starting her own practice. Prior to starting her own practice, Ms. Nye practiced with one of the premier IP boutique firms in New York City and the premier southeastern full service international law firm in Atlanta.

Ms. Nye served as a member of the Executive Committee of the IP Section of the California Lawyers Association from 2009 – 2012. She rotated off in July 2012 and since then has served in the appointed position of Acquisitions Editor for New Matter, the scholarly publication for the IP Section of the CA Bar.
She is also an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA). She has just been reappointed to the Trademark Reporter Committee to continue her service as an editor for a two year term from 2018-2020. Ms. Nye has spoken frequently on trademark prosecution, brand strategies and trademark protection, both domestic and international.
